Questions Parents Ask Most

We’re here to help families feel informed, supported, and prepared before treatment begins

Is sedation dentistry safe for children?

Sedation and general anesthesia can be safe and effective when the child is properly evaluated, the right care setting is selected, and the procedure is performed with appropriate monitoring and trained professionals. During consultation, we review your child's medical history, dental needs, anxiety level, and clearance requirements before recommending a plan.

Will my child remember the dental treatment?

General anesthesia is designed so your child is fully asleep and unaware during treatment. Many families choose this option because it helps avoid repeated fearful attempts and allows needed care to be completed without the child experiencing the procedure awake.

Can all treatment really be completed in one visit?

Often, yes, when clinically appropriate. Because your child is asleep, still, and monitored, the dentist may be able to complete the cleaning, radiographs, fillings, crowns, extractions, or other planned treatment in one coordinated appointment. The final plan depends on your child's needs and safety evaluation.

Do you accept Medicaid and Child Health Plus?

Our team verifies Medicaid and Child Health Plus managed care coverage during intake and explains what may be covered before treatment. The final page should include the approved payer list by the exact plan names parents recognize from their member ID cards.

What happens before the procedure?

We review your child's dental treatment plan, health history, medication history, and sedation or anesthesia needs. You receive eating and drinking instructions, arrival instructions, pediatrician or PCP clearance guidance when required, and a recovery plan.

What if my child has autism, sensory issues, or special healthcare needs?

Tell us during intake. Sensory sensitivities, communication differences, medical complexity, or difficulty remaining still are exactly the kinds of factors that should shape the care plan. The goal is safety, dignity, and access to needed dental treatment.

How long is recovery?

Many children feel tired or groggy after treatment and return closer to normal within about 24 hours. Plan for rest at home the day of the appointment. Our team gives written aftercare instructions and follow-up guidance.

What is an ASA score?

An ASA score is a health classification used in anesthesia planning. It helps the clinical team understand overall medical risk and determine whether office-based care is appropriate or whether a surgical center or hospital setting may be safer.
